Stefan Povaly

Stefan Povaly is senior country officer, Germany. Prior to being promoted to this role in November 2020, he was Co-Head of Sponsor and Corporate Leveraged Finance for Europe, Middle East and Africa. He is a Managing Director and has worked at J.P. Morgan since 2001 and has advised private equity clients in structuring leveraged buyouts and originated, structured and syndicated numerous leveraged corporate financings, high yield bonds, leveraged buy-outs for a broad range of industries and issuers in the EMEA region. Stefan has a significant experience in arranging leveraged financings across Europe and in particular in the German speaking and Nordic region.

Stefan holds an MSc in Business and Finance from the University of Vienna. Stefan conducted doctoral studies in Corporate Finance at University of St. Gallen and the Harvard Business School and holds a PhD. Stefan authored the book ‘Private Equity Exits’ published in 2007 and comments regularly in Private Equity related publications
