Nuno Silva

Head of Section Securities Data, Europäische Zentralbank

Nuno is the head of the Securities Statistics team in the Directorate General Statistics of the European Central Bank (ECB). In this capacity, he is the Chair of the ESCB Working Group on Securities.

He joined the ECB in 2000 as an Economist in the Directorate General Statistics. He has gained increased responsibility over the years and eventually became the head of the External Statistics Team, where he was responsible for the compilation of macroeconomic statistics for the euro area external account. In November 2020 he accepted the challenge to head the Securities Statistics team where he is responsible for the maintenance and development of the Centralised Securities Database, the largest reference dataset on securities worldwide. In that context, he is also responsibility to regularly compile sustainable finance indicators for the euro area.

Prior to joining the ECB, Nuno was an economist in the Central Bank of Portugal.

Nuno studied in the ISEG in Lisbon and the in UvA in Amsterdam in the area of applied mathematics and Economics.
